We are pleased to announce that plans are now in place to ensure that Edwards Genesis and its sister company, Brownlow Associates, will have a line of succession. Christopher Brownlow, who is nearly 19 and has just left Bolton School with 2 x Grade A and 1 x Grade B at A Level, has decided that a career in surveying is for him. However, he wishes to work whilst he continues his studies and he has been enrolled on an accelerated distance learning BSc (Hons) course in Building Surveying with University College of Estate Management (UCEM) in Reading https://www.ucem.ac.uk/ The course starts imminently and Chris could, if he works hard, be qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor within 4-5 years. In the meantime he is seeking part-time employment and will be gaining valuable practical experience in accompanying the Directors and other Chartered Surveyors and professionals in the building industry on site visits. We welcome Chris on board and wish him every success in his studies and his future career. In his spare time Chris is a talented cricketer and has represented Lancashire at all age groups since under 11s, and he has also played for North of England at under 15s and under 17s. He currently plays his club cricket at Southport & Birkdale.

Update - April 2017

Chris is now well into his first year of study and is also working part time as a sports coach (rugby and cricket) visiting local primary schools and delivering targeted programmes to young children This has been facilitated through Bolton RUFC http://www.boltonrugby.co.uk/ in association with Sale Sharks RUFC http://www.salesharks.com/. He also coaches juniors at Horwich RMICC http://horwichrmi.play-cricket.com/ on Friday evenings. He has also signed for Northern CC, who play in the Premier Division of the prestigious Liverpool Competetion, for the upcoming season.

Update - July 2017

Chris made his debut in Minor Counties cricket when he played in a 3 day game for Cumbria against Suffolf at Ipswich.

Update - October 2019

After 3 years of study, undertaken whilst working and gaining practical experience, Chris has graduated from UCEM with a First Class Honours Degree in Building Surveying and is now undergoing his Assessment of Professional Competence (APC), the next step to achieving Chartered Surveyor status. He is now a full-time employee and is shadowing our Directors on survey inspections and learning the other skills required to be able to compile client reports. He is also continuing to develop his knowledge by attending relevant courses and seminars and is also gaining an insight into other areas of property-related work by having "work days" with fellow professionals and contacts such as conveyancers, architects and specialist building contractors. On the sporting front, after 2 successful years at Northern CC (Premier Division Champions in 2017), Chris has decided that future work commitments mean that he should play his cricket closer to home so he has signed for Edgworth CC for 2020.

Update - June 2023

After 7 years training with and working for Edwards Genesis, Chris has decided that a long-term career is not for him and he has now obtained a second degree in Biology and taken up a position as a science teacher at Turton High School in Bolton. We will miss Chris but wish him every success in his chosen career.
